Ofrenda

When my friend Kristen passed away suddenly in November of 2021, I was called to build an ofrenda at her memorial. Part art installation and part ritualized altar building, it was incredibly healing to use my intuition and skills to serve our grieving community.
Just after the first yahrzeit of her death, I rebuilt a smaller version of this ofrenda during the Open Studio event at Inscape Arts. Many of us in the building were friends with her or had been influenced by her incredible work.
I am grateful for the opportunity to help people sit in grief and help send along messages to our beloved dead.
